P - Montjuich, etc
R - F1 (although it's probably more at the later 750 spec of 119 inlet c/l rather than the F1 spec of 110 inlet c/l)
PH - Pantah

This is very nice Brad.

So the original Pantah cams do have slightly more lift and duration than the later F1 and more-current “R” grind. Certainly shows that R does not mean “race”.

Hey Brad...
Looks like I'm keeping my pantah cams. According to your cam numbers chart, the 900ssie should lift a little higher than even the P grind. If that is the case, what characteristic makes them a better choice for street bikes, or am I confusing them(P) with a different cam?
Regards...

the p is an old school long duration cam. it'd be your "full race" from back when "full race" was what all the punters wanted. ht is the 900 carb cams, and the 8j from the 900ie is not that much bigger on the inlet but has a lot more area under the exhaust curve, just like the st2 cam does.

p is great if you want to give away power over most of the rpm range. interestingly, the exhaust opening and inlet closing points are fairly similar across all three. just like the early 4v race cams - a, g, etc, the increase in duration is mostly at overlap.

fixed the graph. horizontal is degrees of crank rotation from tdc firing to tdc firing. vertical is mm of valve lift.
