I can't argue with your experience of racing temps being somewhat higher than street cruisers might attain but if you can boil water on the crankcases after a race I'd be a little worried about the engines longevity!
Maybe its an ambient temp difference that produces the high case temp? Here in the UK they still run hot (esp on the dyno) but I've never seen anywhere near 200F on the cases using a digi pyrometer.
Elesa still do the original 2 piece black/clear glasses but for some reason no longer in metric threads. They are continuously rated at 210F rather than the 230F of the one piece glasses I've been using for the past two seasons with no concerns. There are metal bodied versions with crystal lenses - quite expensive but rated at 350F which should be ideal for anyone considering endurance racing in Death Valley.
