Hi All, I was just wondering, what was the original MSRP of the 750 F1 (in the USA market)? I just know it was way too much for me to afford when I was in high school/college , so the absolute number didn't matter to me then. But now I'm curious, how much more than a Japanese sportbike did they cost when new? -Steve Gross '88 750 F1

As best as I can remember - in '85 or '86 the old Ron's Cycles in Gardner, Mass. was supposed to get one of the first one's in and I wanted it bad. Told him if he got it, I'd somehow take it. I was hard at work on a second mortgage on my house when he told me his deal fell through. Probably for the best because not long after the plant where I worked closed, and I was unemployed for a good stretch. I'm pretty sure the price he was saying it was going to be was around an astronomical $7K to $7.5K. Bill

Thanks, I think the specials were closer to the $8.5-$9k range, based on some old magazine articles I saw recently. That was a lotta dough in the mid to late 80s!

I will check my collection of magazines, but I think $6,995 for the standard F1, and over $10,000 for the Montjuich and Laguna Seca, were standard in the US. I do not think the SM was sold here. MikeV

I bought my F1 brand new in November 1985 for AUD $9,650 from Ron Angel Ducati in Melbourne Australia. To put $9,650 into perspective - below are the MSRP of other bikes of that era: $3,990.00 for the 1985 Honda VF750 F $7,830.00 for the 1985 Honda VFR1000R (Gear driven cams for more accurate valve timing, WOW! 'Suppose I had better toss my rubber belts?) $6,599.00 for the 1986 Yamaha FZ750 (remember the 5 valve cylinder heads?) Cheers,

I was working at a little Duc/Guzzi/KTM shop from '85 to '89.
Part time, after my normal work hours. We sold an F1A, and then later an F1B in '86.
I got to ride the B model after setting it up, and then during the winter, I told the boss I wanted a B model in the spring.
I got a discount, but the '87 was stickered at $7495.00 as I recall.

In 1988 an 750 F1-S list price was $7500 in Connecticut USA. The S models were B models converted to be street legal and homologated by Cagiva North America. I bought one new and still have it. The best bike I've had => after many modifications. And reliable, too. Rich
