Mike, my vertical cylinder was set at 30 degrees before tdc, I never ever checked the horizontal.
Idle has never been a problem on any of the 3 motors I have used a fixed.
Air leaks? Initial timing?

Hi, I can't understand what problem you have, I seem to have understood that at least the bike is not accurate, and you believe that the fault lies with the automatic advance of the electronic ignition, I ask you a question .... that camshaft did you use? Just to understand.
I have my Moretti Hypermotard with carburetors, I used the kokusan pikup, and ignitek control unit, it is idle like a moto guzzi, and with the laptop I change the map with the engine running by modifying the power curve.
I have an electrical system that disconnects two electrical plugs and I can change ducati performance coils and regulator control units in two minutes, and it works well with that arrangement too, but with the ignitek control unit the bike with a 71.5 crankshaft goes up to 10,000 rpm . Your ECU should automatically advance and give regularity to low revs.

I meant that my engine at low revs is very smooth and runs perfectly.

I am happy with the engine Carlo! It is good. Pages 2 and 3 tell what is in the engine. It will idle fine if I hold the throttle open, but not if I let go. And then it will fire right up again without any assistance. The Malossis have no idle circuits, and the engine has no flywheel! Montjuich cams.

It has DYNA ignition and DYNA dual 3.0 ohm dual-fire coils only, no Bosch or Kokusan igniter boxes. One point (I used 31 degrees) to set firing, no retard or advance as installed. This is what Sauro Collini (Super Pantah) used on many engines with his alternator side cover. There is a long discussion about this on the TT site somewhere; I will try to find it again. It works! And many, including me, thought it could not.

I think it is amazing that it fires with no retarded timing at start—-I thought that was impossible. That is all I was asking about.

They all have their challenges Boucher, but this one was not as tough as your project. This has been mentally planned a long time Lou, and some things were done a year and a half back. Then it gained momentum this year with the crankshaft and cylinder work. You know how these things go. MikeV
