This bike was built for the 1987 season and had just a few shared parts with the previous season's Mille based machine. I questioned Reno recently on the 2 late bevel bikes. The 1986 Mille bike made good power but with the long stroke it introduced too much torque to the chassis giving problems with handling twisting up the chassis. This bike was sold off to Frank Marazic in Canada. There were some attempts at gusseting the frame to deal with the torque by the new owner.
A new bike was built for the 1987 season with a monoshock chassis and 900 motor. This bike is the one documented by Phil Aynsley. It ran stock 900 stroke and 93 mm pistons with healily modified heads. Valve size 47 intake and 40 exhaust. Valve angles were changed 3 Deg for intake and 2 deg exhaust to fit the big valves. Note the slotted head stud holes..... that indicates they were run some time in there history on NCR cases with the wider pattern.
This motor was later slotted into a Harris chassis for 1988 but used only once after the arrival of the 851.
Reno later reassembled the 1987 version of the bike with the intent of "vintage racing" along side the 450 Jimmy was riding. It was at that time fitted with NCR bodywork and a different swing arm. It was sold off when Reno moved back to Italy. As Lou states the bike was restored through multiple owners over a period of years being completed just in time for the Jimmy Adamo memorial Symposium in New Hampshire 2013.
I was tasked with rebuilding the motor a few years prior. It was the most intriguing and at the same time horrifying motor rebuilds I have undertaken. There were small stress cracks all over the heads from the wrong welding filler material used. Many hours were taken digging old material out and welding with the proper fill.
The motor should have been equipped with Carillo rods but the owner at the time couldn't afford new ones... hence the stock 750 rods. He intended only to parade the bike. It has not been started up since restoration... a pity as this bike had a very unique tone.

Wonderful write up Mike. Thanks for sharing the unique details of Reno's last bevel. East coast built some great bevels back in the day but never got the editorial coverage like the west coast ones did.

Thanks Mike. I remember those unusual manifold mounting areas from NH. MikeV
