Hi.
I have got a 650 Indiana engine and I want to put two original pantah 500 cylinder heads to convert it to rear intake. What result can I get in engine performance with that combination?

Hello to the islands 750.

The only thing I can think that would effect performance is a teeny-tiny bump in compression because the chambers on the 500 heads are a bit smaller. Valve sizes are the same in both versions, and it may be that the ports on the 650 heads are a little bit larger —- easily fixed. They both used 36mm carbs. The stock cams in both have very close specs. I seriously doubt that you would feel any difference. But they would look right!

I hope someone posts after me; I am sick of seeing my moniker here.

MikeV

PS after 750 sent photos: Send that engine to Lou; he would love to spit shin it!

Please tell me how that works out, I've got the same engines and parts here. Just couldn't decide (yet) what to do with them.

ciao

ok, it will still take some time. But I will put the result here. It is so expensive to find a rear cylinder head, which was the solution, for the old cylinder heads of 500, stored years ago.

I believe the Indiana shares the same transmission as the old Elefant 650 with wide ratios (first is good for hill climbing).
You might consider switching over to pantah gears.

Will the 500 heads drop right on to 650 cases? Stud pattern is the same? I’m wondering about a picture of an Arrmacchi 350 with what appears to be a Pantah top end installed but the 650 Pantah studs are further apart side-to-side than the Aermacchi studs. Thought it might be a 500 top end.

350,400,500,600 , 650 and 750 have the same bolt distance
