I'm pleased to report another succesful race day yesterday in the 4th round of the Auckland Club Championships. After a total of 12 starts we've only missed the podium positions once with 3x2nd places, 8x3rds and 1x4th. There's one round left in April and it carries double points so hoping to maintain the consistency and get the elusive first win. :)

Best of luck .

Don't they bother you with oil catch-trays ?

Thanks for your kind words...In the club races the main competition is 350 Yamaha two strokes, mostly the TZ's but the odd LC as well. For the bigger events there's a few TT2's turn up, noteably Glyn Robinson's "Baby," riden by Chris Swallow is the fastest about 4s a lap quicker than me and ahead of most of the TZ's. I'll try and post a results sheet from the International meeting last October. Its mixed grid pre '89/Pre '82 so sorting by class is a bit tricky but you should get an idea of the range of bikes out there...

Hi Phil, and well deserved.

We are all suffering from a severe state of happiness in the pre 89 and pre 82 class here. The class is booming with full grids and hearty, friendly competition all amongst great people.

So much so that the Auckland club have somehow noticed our common spirit and kindly arranged a support race at the next round of the National SBK series on 5/6th of March at Hampton Downs.
Chris can't make it (new dad n'stuff) so I have another local fella on Baby, and Tim Barnes on the 750. We all need to support this event as it is a big chance to step up and raise the profile of the classic series.

What a fabulous country this is.

Very nice and thanks for those pics!

As an aside, how are you able to use your 4 pot front brakes in pre 82 or was that TT in the pre 89 group?

You have to admit the chap on RS 125 did well, your tracks might be tight and twisty for that surprising finish.

Very interesting and hope these groups are well-subscribed, much appreciate the stories!

Living on the moon has it's advantages.
The originality police don't mind too much if we use alternative parts than wouldn't normally be expected. The simple fact is I don't happen to have any M1r's hanging around on the shelf.
The 750 is pre 89 and has Suzuki forks and Nissin 4 pot calipers. Frame is an F3 with the rear tubes cut of and altered to TT1 style. Dymag 18" wheels shod with Avon's. The engine is a real Bitsa. 39mm Dellorto flatslides feeding later type heads with 43/38mm valves and 800 cams. 848 crank/rods and Paso pistons. It goes like the clappers.

Speaking of M1R's, I have recently stripped a pair to fit some Sports valves for a customer. I'm now certain Marzocchi employed two people unknown to each other, sat them in different buildings and told them to design a 41.7mm fork leg each. Even the stanchions are wildly different in every way. What were they thinking of ?
I have started again inside by making completely new damper rods for each leg, and check valves for each stanchion. Now they are fully adjustable, -- and work as a pair. Some task though.
