Hi Cal
Thank you
Yes success!!!, it was a long way to go but now I'm pretty happy.
Just need to test it on track!!! And do the usual thousand small adjustments.
Ciao

Hi Filippo....
Nice job! I think this is the first time I've seen and heard a short stroke 513cc Ducati. Very cool. The engine sound has a nasty attitude to it. Now that you've slowed the piston speed down with the shorter stoke, have you given any thought as to where you are going to peg maximum redline?
Regards...

Hello flattop900 and huit
Thank you for replying and for your contribution to this topic.
About red line I still don't know where to fix it because we.just did a static test, but as you can see from the video the rpm on the clock reach the limit, but ok, this is the original Cagiva Alazzurra clock, I believe it isn't the most precise one, but for sure I can see a big difference relating to the old engine.
hope to be more precise soon about red line.
Ciao
Filippo

Hi everybody!
So this is my contribution to humility or big mistake if you prefer, but anyway a great and positive experience.
About red line: on the last video posted, the new engine gain rpm very fast, strangely fast. Infact we forget to instal the oil pressure by -pass and also the rpm screw on the irzzontal head was the wrong one. Elefant 350 screw with Alazzurra rpm clock= no good

Oil pressure came back to a good pression after installing the by-pass. Ok now I know.

The track time , finally came..
I menage to do just 8 laps when the central pulley came off losing the orizzontal time belt..
Ok panic!!

Shame on me, I install the old nuts on the pulley ( removed three time).
Only after loosing it I realized the nuts need to be replaced when dismounted .
But we was lucky because the piston just hit the valves and no more, so in few days we removed the damaged valves and installed new one ( ok not new, caming from a used Monster 600 head).

All part of the learning process when you are a pioneer! Good for you it was the H cylinder; much easier to get to than the V, so I have been reminded recently. You survived for another day. MikeV

You got lucky with that one. A lesson for everyone about reusing pulley nuts.
Good post...

Hi 618 F1, Huit and Flattop.
Thank you for your encouraging replays.

In my mind this new engine had to be ready for the beginning of this racing season.
But as you know I had a lot of delays/ troubles on this built.

I manage to do the last race of the season at Misano and....it was a GREAT weekend.

On the first free practice laps I destroyed my best lap of last year race.
From 2'16" racing to 2'11" on practice!!!
So finally great time came!!!!

On qualifying practice i get the pole

Image
and yes, yes this is my first pole ever and i'm so proud of it.
And also to get it on a track like Misano, a world famous track.

Ok the bike run very fast and the engine reach 11.000 rpm very easely.
We race with mixed categories, usually with vintage Guzzi, this mean with small Guzzi engine i block but also with big Guzzi engine block.
I made the pole and the sixth time on grid leaving behind me a good punch of big Guzzi block!! And this was an additional satisfation on this weekend...
