Here are some more pics taken back in the day. It looks to me that one of the original 750 F1s got chopped to make the frame for the 851.

I did create a thread on this back in the early days of the forum - but I cannot find it... might have been lost when the forum crashed??

Pat, how may 750 F1s did Ducati make?

Note in the pictures the red painted frame parts that were possibly off an F1?
And... could that be, yes I think it is, Yup, LOOK!, it's a 16" front wheel!! :lol:

Both frames together... very similar.
There can be no arguing that the Cobas predates the 748ie. See the 750 F1 behind the Cobas.

Notice the location of the rear shock - beneath the rear carburettor. Similar setup to a Honda Prolink possibly?

No ProLink.
the shock was fixed at the top, and the bottom was in the middle of links.
It was possible to adjust the rising rate
