I am getting my wider wheels from Ed. He and I have talked and emailed quite a few times.
On a side note, I used to be a big Honda guy and have a lot of spare parts. I just happened to have a front sprocket from a cb550 and the splines line up exactly with the large splines on the output shaft of my Pantah engine. The Honda sprocket even uses the same retaining plate. The offset was a little different, but I think a simple spacer could be fabbed up. Honda parts are definitely easier to find than old Ducati parts.

More offset?? Those coarse splined front sprockets with decent offset are a little scarce. Could you throw up a picture of it? Thanks, Bill

you could use a Cagiva Allazurra wheels are somewhat higher than the original 500 pantah. Front: 2,50x18 Rear:3.00x18
I got a long time for a project finally does not finish.

Bill, Here are a few pics of the two sprockets. The Honda sprocket is on the left. As you can see it is very symmetrical and does not have the raised section like the Pantah sprocket. I put both of the sprockets on my Pantah engine, and doing a very basic measurement, I found that the Honda sprocket sits roughly .18" outboard of the Pantah sprocket, or 3/16". With a 3/16" spacer between the plate and sprocket, the Honda sprocket could be made to ride in the same position. Now the more interesting thing to me is that if someone were fitting a different swingarm, tire, and wheel combo, the additional 3/16" of space provided by the Honda sprocket might be very beneficial. On top of the fact that Honda parts are cheap and plentiful. Most Honda single overhead cam fours from the 70's used this kind of front sprocket.....there could be plenty more Honda's that use it as well, I have just not researched it. Dave

Dave, according to the drawings i found, the Honda splines in the sprocket are 6 mm whereas the Ducati has 5 mm. That means that You can fit it, but it will have a lot of backlash. I've made a list of sprockets 520 and 530 to fit the older 6-spline shaft, but I'm not sure about the available space around the sprocket. What's the max on teeth to go ? The Honda nearly all are 16+ so gearing at the wheel could become troublesome.

Yeah, too many teeth, and not much offset. I know Sprocket Specialists makes a front sprocket for a Kawasaki with the same Ducati coarse spline, but no offset. I've got the p/n written down somewhere, but I'd rather get fronts from Ed Milich. Bill

Hi Bill I have a Yamaha xt500 counter shaft on mine with a spacer that I have made up but this is of course a 520 conversion but very beneficial to the Pantah Regards Alan

Where do you guys get your rear sprockets from for the Pantah? I am doing a 520 conversion and I am looking for a 520 41 tooth rear. Yes Bevel Heaven has them, but I would not mind having other options.
Thanks Dave
