OK, so let's be honest here. Copy of an email sent to Cranky:

Postponed the track day till June, because of rainy weather in the forecast (and it did on Sunday and Monday), because it is a new machine with new tires (that rain thing again), now has a different (bigger) engine, lack of riding time on my part, and a few other reasonable excuses. Did ride it around the big neighborhood block, and all went quite well till I tipped it over at 2 MPH going into my back driveway, which is downhill, off camber, decreasing radius, slick-as-snot asphalt covered with fir needles. So, there I was wallowing around like a pig underneath it, about to cry. Got out VERY easy though. Almost felt good about it once it was over and I reviewed the situation; sort of like Jensen rolling around in his new leathers at the Symposium in NH last year. At least I know it tips over OK. Learned how to spot-paint (a minor scuff on the fairing where it sticks out around the right handlebar, that is about all that was very visible). Anyway, it is ready to go, and I will get it somewhere next month. MikeV

Finally got it to a track day; 6-22 at Oregon Raceway Park in Grass Valley, Oregon. 16 up and down turns and curves in only 2.3 miles. It may have not been the easiest track to start back up, but, to make a long story short, it went without a hitch. The only fault with the bike is that the swingarm pin insisted on slipping out to the right (we were going counter-clockwise, which is supposed to be the most-technical way to go), in spite of several attempts to make it stay put. Finally decided it was not safe to keep doing that, so called it quits early. But I learned a lot about getting a bike and me to the track and back. Here is the vintage Ducati contingent (Symposium NW?) for the weekend; Geoff Baker and his F1, and me on the TT900SS. MikeV

I like you pipes, nice bike too. Did you find the swing arm gremlin?

The large hunk of steel on my swingarm simply will not clamp down on the small (20mm) greased pin. I think I will need to do something similar to what Pantah Good has done on this bike. MikeV

Mine works, but Cranky's fix was much classier, although, we're still waiting and waiting and waiting to see it on the track...zzzzzzzzzz

mike

do you have a nice side on shot of it all painted up? i'm curious of the way the 17" gold wheels look with the trad f1 paint scheme.

actually, i looked at the posts again and realised the f1 is geoff's. scratch that.

paying as much attention as usual obviously.
