Greetings,

I am in the process of reassembling a 1987 F1 I bought a couple of years ago. It was unloved and not well cared for, so I have been refurbishing it slowly. The frame and wheels have been powdercoated and some new parts collected, so I am beginning to reassemble the bike. First problem - someone did some creative rear wheel assembly with a homemade spacer and the wrong bearing. I believe that I have the order correct, as shown in the attached photos. I am guessing that the larger spacer extends through the wheel bearing and part way into the sprocket carrier bearing. If someone could confirm (or deny) this, I would greatly appreciate it.
At some point, I will need to collect a new headlight and I would like to replace the foam that surrounds the instruments. The headlight glass broke due to my carelessness. If I had known how hard it would be to get one I would have locked it in a vault.
Thanks in advance for the help. Although this is my first post, I have been lurking around this site for some time and have found a lot of useful and interesting information.

You've got it right. In regard to the headlight, I picked up a complete unit from Steine Dinse, but it wasn't cheap. Have you tried Italspares (Ian Gowanloch)? I seem to remember seeing him selling one on e-bay recently, so he may have more available. Failing that keep an eye on flea-bay; I've seen a couple of second hand ones come up occasionally.

I scored the headlamp that Italspares last auctioned ;) Lucky me :!:

What part of the world are you from? Note: Headlamps for Britain, Japan and Australia all dip to the left (dip away from on-coming traffic), whereas Europe and USA they dip to the right.

Wow, I always thought Ducati use the same headlight from the F1 series in the New Supersport series.('92-'98)

Could someone here with both bikes in the garage verify or disprove that?

Hi ETD,

My bevel rear wheel was NOT put together as you show!
The long spacer had the small OD part of the tube going THROUGH the disc-side bearing to locate a top-hat shaped spacer which keeps the rear caliper mounting plate at the correct distance. It is vaguely possible that the 750F1 was constructed differently, but I DOUBT it! Ducati ARE traditionalists, after all..............!!! Do you HAVE a top-hat shaped spacer anywhere?

There's a high resolution parts manual for the later F1s at http://www.loudbikestore.com/pdf/DUCATI%20750%20F1%20Montjuich%20Parts%20Manual.pdf.

On TAV 22, you can see item #22; the top hat spacer (as well as the full exploded view).

Regards,
