Anybody know of air filters pods that might fit on the 40mm carbs on the Laguna Seca? The front velocity stack is very tight to the frame and I suspect an air filter may have to be angled quite a bit to fit. Not sure if there is one that will fit.

Hello Frank,

DNA filters OV-5100 fit PHM40 Dellorto on a TT2 replica.
If they fit a TT2 with a Verlicchi frame they should fit F1.
DNA are like K&N filters

Regards
Graeme

For years I have used UNI foam filters on my F1 with 41mm PHMs. They can be cleaned and reused. One version is the perfect diameter for the mouth, and has a 15 degree angle that helps in the front. But I was not running the plastic mudguard at the back because I have a 900ss-style CF fender on the rear.

When I built the LS replica and added the mudguard there was NO room to fit those filters on the rear cylinder. Gave up and used aluminum bellmouths with grids in them. So, you can have filters or a mudguard, but not both.

How many big bevels have been run for years with open carbs? Maybe that is meant to be.

Graeme - Thanks for the pictures. I'm not sure of the similarities between the TT frame and the F1 frame but putting 40mm carbs on the F1 must have been an after thought. The tube is actually crimped so the velocity stack will fit on the Laguna. Interesting way to solve a problem but that's what makes a "special" I guess.
Mike - I too have removed the rear mudguard on my bike. It was an ugly change from the Montjuich so I don't think I would have a problem fitting a filter on the rear. But you are right about staying with the velocity stacks since I don't ride the bike that much. Just thought I'd try filters along with a real muffler instead of the Verlicchi to make it more civilized. One might ask "why".
Thanks guys for the help.

Hello, Happy Holidays and a Happier upcoming New Year to all... Frankfast, you may want to try something like this type of "Velocity Stack Filter"... https://www.bbrfilter.com/collections/v ... ck-filters ... I had good success using them with short velocity stacks, they gave me "peace of mind" when riding on the road... Best of luck finding your solution...BobG
