I feel like I can't be the only one that has the mixture screw for the vertical cylinder trapped against the frame so I can't adjust it. What the heck!! |

This mixture screw should be about 1/2 inch behind the frame vertical member. Maybe your rubber manifold is a little too short ? Gilles |

I have no rubber. The carburetor clamps right to the intake manifold. Both do, it was like that when I bought the bike. After somebody stole my aluminum trumpets I got K&N cylinder filter. The one on the back has an angled fitting to the carb but it still hits the frame. I saw one bike with a 90 degree boot between the carb and an Emgo filter. It fit the space but looked horrible. Thanx for the input. |

Just loosen the manifold clamp and spin the carb top inward slightly, or pull the carb off. You should only need to adjust it one time; usually about one and one-quarter turn out. MikeV PS: Your manifold does look a bit short. Here is from my first F1: Attachment:
