I'm working on my F1B…replacing the burned out wires from the ignition triggers. When these wires leave the left side case they go to a four pin connector. The female part of that connector is in apparently fine shape, it even has it's little "O" and "V" pieces in place…which is really helpful. My male part of the connector is a different matter. Those wires were cut off and only little stubs are seen leaving the connector. I have more good plugs which can be inserted into the male plug, but I can not figure out how to remove the old beat up pieces which remain in the male part.

Any ideas? Do I need a tool???

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mike

Hello Mike, there is a barb on the metal prongs that stops them pushing out when you plug the 2 halves together.
The electrical fellows use a tool to get these out.
I have removed them using a small diameter tube that fits snugly over the pins and holds the barbs in tight so you can pull the pin out with the wire tail.

Mike, I found some brass tubing at a hobby shop that worked fine. Unfortunately I lost the tubing so I can't tell you what size it was but .090" ID seems about right. The connectors are the same as the ones you can get at Radio Shack and I'm sure they sell a tool to suit.

These are usually called Molex pins. The tool being a Molex pin removal tool. Radio Shack should have them. I prefer the spring loaded tool with a push button style end. Lou

A car ariel/antena is also usefull as it has various sizes of tubing. They also are good for making small hole punches.

You would be needing one of these fine tool pieces:
