with those cams timing is not so important, the duration is so long that it doesn't make a lot of difference. i even wrote a report on them, as well as crapping on.

ignition timing likewise. might be worth getting as much advance into it as possible if it does have those big cams.

looks like an interesting motor.

Jeff,

It's not too hard to do a static timing check of both the valve timing and ignition timing with a degree wheel, it can be a little oily as Mike suggested. If you would like help with this, I would be glad to help as I believe we are both in Illinois.
