Hi La Tige, if you look at this years Symposium pictures in the events category you can enlarge the picture of my Harris with an under swing arm battery box. Lou

Hello La Tige,
i build a Harris framed TT1 replica and mounted a battery holder (original Harris?) under the swingarm.
Looks nice to me.

William

Hi La Tige,
Sorry for the delay for getting photos posted for you. This is the battery holder that was on my Harris when I got it, chassis #HPD69 originally build at Sports Racing. I don't know if this is the original holder, but it has had a hard life and I've repaired it several times. This location for the battery is good for weight distribution for a heavy lead acid battery, but now days with really light weight batteries, it is not so important. And it has never been a very convenient location (for me) for any kind of battery servicing regardless of what kind of battery is in it. Mine has always been hinged on the left hand side so the right hand side can drop down for access, but I've found it is generally quicker to just unbolt it from both sides of the engine cases. I am now using a Shorai lithium battery, so I made some styrofoam inserts for fitting the smaller battery. If you go with this location, be sure to pre-wire in charger leads to the battery so you can hook up a charger easily.
Bill

My F1 uses the bolt holes that located the center stand, simple box holds the battery and boxed brackets with captive nuts welded to the sides. But as Bill said the new light batteries can be tucked almost anywhere.

Philippe,

Shorai lithium batteries are so light (mine is less than 1 kilo), that you can place them whereever you want on your bike. For a given cranking power, lithium batteries are smaller than lead batteries, so they require less space. And you can buy a lithium battery from outside your country (like on Ebay or Amazon for example) because transport companies can bring them across country borders.

If you opt for a lithium battery (whatever the brand), my advice is : buy also a battery charger specific to your lithium battery because normal battery chargers will ruin your lithium battery in the event a complete recharge is required.

It (Shorai) is so light you can stick it in the tail without any guilt about placing weight high. MikeV
