My F1 is currently wearing a 916 Showa front fork. After running it at a few track days last summer with no front fender, it's time to compete the swap.

I was looking for a tidy way to adapt the original F1 fender, but don't see a way to attach it that would be sufficiently rigid. So, looking for advice for a fender that would like somewhat period correct and be a realatively easy mount on the Showas.

I could just slap on a 916 fender, but would like to to look less modern.

Any ideas?

Geoff, the only bike that I can quote you for a good idea is the new Norton hot rod thing - can't remember the name.
There is the normal contemporary norton 850, then there is the hot rod/classic racer version. They cost 40,000 gbp.
Sorry I can't remember the name, but a search ?

Hi Geoff,
Back when we ran the AHRMA BOT3 series, I had a Showa front end on my Harris. We used a c/f front fender from a Monster. Not exceptionally beautiful, but bolts right on, very lightweight, and more classic looking than the 916 style.

Geoff - Wait!! That Monster fender may not work! Just now, I got that old fender out to see what it would look like on my '97 748, which is painted up like the championship winning Harris was, and found the mounting hole pattern is completely different. The Showa forks we used on the Harris were loaners from Bruce, and I guess must have been from a Monster. You said your Showa's are off a 916, which I suspect are the same as my 748's. Bummer!

Bill,

Thanks, I noticed that your bike had the supersport showas. Did some digging and noticed the same thing Crowster mentioned. Looks like there's plenty of monster fenders for the 43mm 916 style showas. Just need to pick one and "buy it now"

Then paint it. Hope I can match the terrible fish-eyes that I got in rest of the bodywork!

Next problem. Anybody got experience painting magnesium wheels?
