If you want your bike for the road, where are you going to find tyres for 16.5 inch rims?
Race tyres can be had, but road tyres ????

Hey Beltboy, from Melbournistan (the land of we will catch you & fine you)
The reference to 16.5's was a joke, but I just came back from Pablo's. (Scotty sold the business to Rick)
We were talking 18in tyres. there are bugger all, but the dunlop TT100 look good. 8-)
Rated as a road tyre, but do get used for racing. They come in strange sizes, but translated in the book to 3.00, 3.5 & 4.0.
Rick says no problem to mount on 2.15 & 2.5 rims.
Price is good too, $140 frt, $180 rr

buy something later model and fit f1 bodywork to it.
Here is another project of mine that I have been preparing earlier :D

The bike started out as a repairable write-off I picked up for $5,000. It is a 2005 1000 DS Supersport. As you can see I needed to get the frame repaired ($700) but apart from that it is a great bike!

Tyre choice is apparently very good! Although this generation of Supersport is hailed as being one of the best handling Ducatis of all time, it is a chore to ride around town and I would much prefer the nimbler and lighter lighter 750 F1!

I hope to get back into this and a few other bike projects after I finish my home renovation. I start pulling do the back of the house next week!

Cheers,

You know Mike, when I read Brad's idea the 1000DS came straight to mind. I rode one when they first came out & was very impressed, I only rode it for an hour so I didn't notice the weight but it was light years ahead of my then TRX 850.
