For winterizing, I like to drain the fuel from all my carbureted bikes.

But, I always struggle with this on my 1988 750 F1.

With most bikes, I just stick a little hose on the carb drain outlet and open the drain screw. The gas drains through the hose and into my chosen receptacle. No muss, no fuss.

But, the PHF 36 carbs on my F1 don't have a drain screw. Instead, I have to remove the float bowl nut. This generally results in getting gas everywhere EXCEPT into my chosen receptacle.

Is this just the way it is, or am I doing it wrong?

I think that is it, or turn the bike upside down. MikeV

Hello, I hold the engine, the gas just accelerated and I'm running out of fuel, for me it is the best solution.

Hi Carlo,

Unfortunately I'm not a dirtbike rider, so these tricks are beyond me!

I have tried running the bike out of gas in the past. But, with 2 very different lengths of gas line between front and rear carb, this is unsatisfying. :x

Hello, of course I was playing with you!

I know it's a tedious task, but the best, you remove the caps that hold the trays of carburetors, you just have to work a little.

Hello and thank you joking with me!

Carlo.
