Can someone confirm that the "Pass" setting for the headlights should dip the light from high beam to low beam & return them to high beam when released?

Also, what is the "S" position for on the actual headlight off/on switch?

Hi Clinton,
pass should switch high beam on which the switch is on then revert back to low beam when switch is off, the S is like the park light switches the instrument lights on and dash lights and tail light the same as when you switch the ignition key to Park.

Hi - some additional info regarding F1 lighting system, checked out on my own bike.
Key position off - no lights will operate.
Key position "P" - front sidelight and rear light on.
Key position on (ignition on) and main handlebar "on/off" switch set to black dot outer switch gives:-
"H" - nothing on
"L" - nothing on
"P" - full beam flash
Ignition on and main handlebar switch set to "S" position, outer switch gives:-
"H" - front sidelight
"L" - front sidelight
"P" - full beam flash
Ignition on and main handlebar switch set to orange dot, outer switch gives:-
"H" - full beam on
"L" - dip beam on
"P" - full beam flash
Hope this is some help - Richie.

Thanks guys, you've been a great help. It looks like i might have mixed up the high & low beam wires when I replaced the harness plug for the LH switch. By the way, in case anyone is using it; the service manual wiring diagram is all wrong for this switch - it would have the indicators flashing when you hit the horn button, so be aware of the issue.

Update: swapped two of the terminals in the connector & everything works like it should! I was expecting to have a few more electrical problems than this - hell, I've even impressed myself! Now to sort out the fuel tank & taps, fill her with oil & see what happens.
