Howdy,
Quick question, is there anything good out there for heat shield on the fairing. I have tried header wrap on the exhaust, the aluminized sheets that stick to the fairing.....in the end the darn exhaust burns the fairing. Is it worth fighting or just give up and cut a slot/hole on the fairing where it burns/where there is little exhaust clearance.

Thanx,
Clay

My opinion. It is sometimes inevitable, and I have learned to embrace it as patina. I have seen it on many race bikes, the TTs especially, and more than a few street versions. Worked hard to fit the stock LS bodywork and exhaust on that build, and it still got just close enough to tint the fairing. Worked hard on the TT2 and the TT1/F1 and, still, something burned once in use. You end up cutting away more fairing or putting more specific dents in the muffler. Got some on the Factory Pantah race replica. Some parts are just so close they still have to be modified after installed “right”. For me it seems only use shows me the error.

Have used the very tough, sticky, and reflective HVAC tape inside the fairing, with limited success. Usually after the fact. So, not much help from here.

Cal, I like Mike have tried various types of heat shield cloth and exhaust wraps only to get burns in the fairing.
I tried a metal perforated shield with better luck butvuduss as lot calls for fairing modifications.
It’s really nice patina 8-)

Good luck
Paul
