Since this is an older thread, are tires available for the 16" Marvic/Akront rims found on the Montjuich (front and rear) and can I get them in the states?

Hi Frank,

Tires a now available for 16" Marvic - Montjuich, Paso & 750 Sport wheels.

Here are details of the tires. You will need to search for a supplier in the USA.

Thanks, I think, I think I've found them. They are labeled Shinko 880/881 and are W rated. Are they the same?

Hopefully your tire retailer will know. Pretty much the only bike they will fit are Ducatis.

I think the Shinko and Golden tire are the same, just different branding. Anyone? Lou

Looks like Golden Tires are now only knobbies, so the Shinko 880/881 16's seem to be all that's available currently. Got to be better than nothing.

I will share with you some results of studies I made about changing wheel sizes [performed in CAD].
Note that these measurements are theoretical. They don't take into account changing tire profiles, i.e. the tire profile is assumed fixed and taken from a modern 17" tire set (Dunlop A-13).

Ducati 750F1 18"/16" to 17"/17" = +4mm trail

Bimota DB1 16"/16" to 17"/17" = +6mm trail

RevZilla selling them at half the price of MotoSport with free shipping. Just over $200 for both. Not bad.
