I have just bought a couple of F1's, and I need your help with one of the bikes.

It is registered here in Norway as a 1987 600 FII (F2 or F1 Mk II ?) First time registered 16.02.1987 in the UK, imported to Norway in 2001
Frame # : ZDM750R*7500683* DGM51787OM (or 0M?)
Engine#: DM500L.1*602180* (registered as 583ccm)
The frame type is exactly the same as the other F1 750 I bought, that are in bits, and with a lower frame number(the 750 has #1237 and the "Cagiva"-font(F1B?)).
Only 24K km on the counter and very nice looking original bike.
The bike has not been run for several years, so I have changed the belts, spark plugs, filter and oil, and cleaned the carbs. Only thing missing is spark on the rear cylinder....
The history says that in 2001 it was imported to Norway from a UK Ducati collector. That’s all I know so far.
Is it possible that the UK agent etc has changed the engine from 750 to 600, or that there was produced a series of 600ccm bikes for the UK market? If you have any information about this or similar F1's, I would be very happy to hear about it.
Not decided if I should hunt for a 750 engine or just keep it as a rare bird...

The F1 has been a wet dream since I first saw it in -87, and finally I have one complete bike and one in bits as a long time restoration project. Will get back with another thread on the 750 when I have sorted all the boxes and made a list of missing bits&pieces.

Thanks
Roy

Looks like the frame is 1986 F1, engine started life as 500 Sl from around 1980 to 81,
Thats my best guess, Maybe find a Paso engine and put a 750 back in it if you want some work to do.

This is a confusing bike. I've never heard nor seen a 600 f1. This bike has mostly F1B parts, steel tank, catch bottle, fixed rear rotor, but it has an F1A model front end. Throw in the silver motor and I am totally lost. Lou

Was out on my first trip with the bike yesterday. Drove for a couple of hours. My God this bike is small.... 8-)
My -97 900SS is like a bus in comparison.
Since I'm only a couple of years from turning 50, my hips & knees are not as flexible as it use to be. So the hips start complaining after about 200 meters. After some km the cramp has burned out and I could enjoy the bike

The engine run very nice, and I had a wonderful trip on some twisty roads. The carbs are not 100%, but i will get them done. I suspect they are a bit on the rich side, and I scared some pedestrians when I had a couple of misfires in the exhaust pipe. From 2500-3000 rpms the engine responds very nice.

So the engine is perfect, and the natural question to follow up is.... If I should change to a 750 to set it back to original spec, what are the correct engine to search for?
Are the 750 sport and 750 paso engines the correct, or are there other Ducati models who use the same engine? specific production years, serial number range etc?

So far I know I should look for a black engine with 20mm fork spindle and forward facing exhaust on rear cylinder. Other things I must check?

hello, if you find two cylinders of a paso, or an elephant you can to bore your engine casing and everything returns as before.

you can do a 750 cc, also using a pair of crankcase alazzurra 350-650 - or pantah, but you will always have to enlarge the hole of the cylinder housing.

If you use paso 750, or 750 series sport before, everything is easier.

The distance of the fastner that hold the head, is always equal.

I hope my friend simultaneous translator has worked well. Carlo.
