Best time to catch him of the phone is 8 am to midday - Monday to Friday.

I caught up with him after the Philip Island classic, he is in fine form and full of great stories! I really ought to record them for Ducati posterity.

How's this story; Ian has arrived at Marzocchi to chew the fat with a mate who is one of the principals there and have a catch up, as Ian does.

The Marzocchi chap seems to be in an extra good mood as he explains that Ducati plans to sue Marzocchi for the debacle that is the cracking Verlicchi aluminium swingarm on the 750 Sport! It turns out that the Marzocchi shock absorber has been identified by Ducati and Verlicchi engineers as being the root cause of the cracking on account that the spring and damping are too stiff!!!

Why is the Marzocchi chap in a such a good mood?? He has just sent a fax back to Ducati with a copy of correspondence they sent to Ducati (during development of the bike) advising them that the shock absorber that Ducati engineers had specified was very stiff and could cause issues and that Ducati should consider a softer specification.

There you go! Ian's comment was that Ducatis error was to only test their bikes on the race track - where firm suspension performs.
