Reserve not met - passed-in at US $11,300
Auctioned on eBay 30 May, 2012. Winning bid $ Passed-in
1986 Ducati 750 F1 B
Eng #
Chassis# ZDM3AA3L9GB751431
6,000 Miles
Location. Bay Area CA. USA
Details; eBay item 270983341080
"Very nice example of an F1B for sale in San Francisco. The engine was built by Fast by Ferracci back in the day for performance and racing use. I was told that a moto journalist raced this at some point. Cosmetics are well above average. There are only 6000 miles showing on the clock. The bodywork is in very nice shape, especially for a 25 year old machine. This F1 runs very well and revs right up to redline. It handles great, stops like a champ and looks like a classic Ducati racer. It’s very simply a perfect Sunday morning ride. This was owned by a Bay Area rider/collector for over a decade and used as a weekend fun bike.

This bike has lots of nice “common sense” performance upgrades: Lightened and vented dry clutch cover. Keihin Flat slide carburetors. NCR #7 cams. Nice 2 into 1 performance header with throaty Silentium exhaust. Four piston Brembo calipers with nice anodized Menani adaptors.

F1’s are rapidly rising in value. Here is your chance to own a later, more desirable F1B that you can actually ride for Sunday morning coffee runs, canyon carving or even vintage racing! You can hop on this bike and ride it home.

I have high res versions of these photos that I can send via email. Please contact me and include your email address.

$500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Balance due in cash or equivalent within 5 days of auction end. I will assist the buyer with transport after the bike has been paid for. I will deliver it for free to the SFO Forward Air Terminal.

I reserve the right to end this auction early as this bike is for sale locally.

A video of the bike starting and running is at: http://youtu.be/P05e0FfLYPc "

Up to 10 bids, but reserve not met. I hope someone on here gets it, it looks like a really good one. I would highly recommend Ed (the seller).

Wow Jon, you imported it to Australia? How much did you end up paying for the bike? It was passed in at US11,300 on eBay.

And can you post on the forum what was involved to bring it down-under? Who, how and cost?

It is really easy to do. I have bought 3 in and it is probably easier than getting a bike in Australia. You just have to do the research as you could get burnt. I use Nick from Custom Chopper Imports and he is great to deal with (Shipped to Sydney). The cost is $900 which include the import approval. On top of that there is a gst charge of 10% on the purchase price. The bike has to have a clear title and you get it sent to his holding yard in Long Beach. The easiest way to get it shipped around the country to his holding yard is to us U Ship similar to EBAY where they bid on your item to get shipped.Really cheap compared to Australia.
Anything pre 1988 is easy as the compliance is easy to get. RMS has just set up the new system but there are a few people out there doing engineers certificates for them. I get mine done on the way home from Sydney at Rod Bods at Nabiac. It takes about1hr to do. The cost for the cert is $440 including gst. All you have to do then is get a blue slip and rego it.
A lot of guys don't go to all this trouble but if something happens you are covered.
Most of the blokes don't get the engineers cert and they just get it rego'd with the blue slip.
This is for NSW so i don't know what the other states are like.
The reason i do it is because there is so much more to choose from and the dollar makes it heaps cheaper than buying in Australia.

Seeing if anyone in America can help with a bit of history on my bike. I have been told that it was raced in the 80"s as race number 88 and it was ridden by the editor of Road and Track magazine. It would be great if i could find out about it history.
I have tried contacting Fast by Ferracci to see if they had any documentation on it but had no reply.
It is a great bike and has heaps of upgrades so maybe someone could help with some info on it
Jon

just made a few changes added dyna coils(new bracket was made, that why the reg is shifted) and trying one Steve's open megaphone on it, all that is needed is a 50mm insert with original engine pipe used.
