Hi Gents, have just picked up my 86 F1 and thought I would say G'day, based in Perth WA. Bike is very early 86 and is a realisation of wanting one of these for many years. Comes with modified front brakes (have all the original items) 40mm dellortos and a aftermarket exhaust. Seems to run and start ok but I believe the jetting is not right as seems too rich, anyone got some baseline settings for 40mm on these? (was going to inspect and see if close to the laguna seca specs). Noted the rear decal position but will get that fixed and it needs a bit of a tidy here and there but very happy with it.

Thanks Lou, am doing lots of research to find out as much as I can about these things, apparently there is a guy in the next suburb from me who is a wizz with pantahs so he will be good to get to know . My plan is to gradually fix all the small things and make it a nice Sunday rider, the wheels need painting/powdercoating , neutral light and indicator dash light isn't working. But in the end seems to be quite an original bike all up and with a frame number very close to another in WA ( Hi Clinton) I'm assuming a WA delivered bike.

Welcome Dean.
Though there's not a big gap between our serial numbers, mine was actually a Victorian delivered bike. I doubt there would have been very big numbers brought into Oz.

Ours are referred to as 12/1985 bikes, of which 33 were made according to Ian Falloon. They were actually built toward the end of '85. The true 1986 bikes had the Kokusan ignition systems (along with some other differences). Clinton

Very nice example. The parts you mentioned sound stock. Who knows, maybe the factory put your "desmo" in a special place that day. MikeV
