Buy it Now on eBay 13 June, 2013. Asking price AU $21,500.00. Sold for $19,000
1987 Ducati 750 F1 Santamonica
Eng # DM750L1-750498
Chassis# ZDM750LS-750409
29,802 Kilometres
Location. Marburg, Queensland, Australia.
Details; eBay item 190851909090

Here is a 1987 Ducati F1 750 Santamonica, one of only a few made and definitely one for the collector.
Eng # DM750L1-750498
Frame # ZDM750LS-750409
Only 29,802 Km the bike has been well maintained but as usual with all the F1 Ducatis the paint on the engine has deteriorated as has the red on the frame, this is a common problem with these bikes but it does show that the bike is very original and not tarted up or messed with.
These are extremely rare and only come up for sale on rare occasions, this bike is priced accordingly and with a little bit of TLC will be a very good investment.
The engine, gears, brakes etc all work well and the bike rides nicely.

I got quite excited when I saw this ad, as the Santamonica is the F1 that I always wanted - to find one in OZ is quite rare (and the price isn't bad at all). However, after all of the trouble I've had trying to locate the original parts for my '86 F1 restoration I'm now quite a lot more clued up on what should be original & what isn't. Accordingly there are just too many of the difficult to find parts missing on this one with a lot of non genuine items fitted. At least that's my feeling right now - I'd like to hear what others think?

I am with you on that... e.g. why fit a radial master cylinder on the clutch, when such a mod should be invested in the brake? (Ans. it must've had a fall at some time?).

Anyhow there is one upgrade I really am impressed with... it must've been part of the kit that came with the non gen. gear lever... I have always had trouble remembering how the gears go, when barreling into a corner at 60 Mph. It is handy that I can now look down by my left ankle to check - is it Up or Down to select my next gear?

Now, next accessory I need is something on the Dash to remind me which side is left and which is my right!

Accessory of the month 5,4,3,2,N,1

CIAO !!!!! I did a endurance, with a laverda sfc, when I went up the first time his bike, I realized that I had the change to the right and I had the first gear up and all others down!

Pretty much the opposite opposite from how I use the change on my 500 mono.

On that occasion Augusto Brettoni, gave me a piece of adhesive tape with instructions complete with darts indicative, attached to the tank.

He did this, he shook his head repeatedly .....

We won the race!

Anyway, I totally agree with you, it is a beautiful accessory! HAHAHA!!!

I don't know why, but I seem to have a calling for buying bikes that need a lot of work. I think it's like those people that take in stray cats & dogs. As a result I have purchased this bike as my next project. The SM was the F1 that really got me hooked on these bikes - I just love the red on white scheme with those beautiful 2 piece wheels. I made what I thought was a realistic offer & the seller has accepted it, even though I wasn't really expecting him to. So now it looks like the fun part of locating all the missing bits is about to start all over again - so get ready for more questions about originality guys as my little treasure hunt begins all over again.

I'm glad it found a deserving home Clinton.

We never got any of those over here in the U.S. as I recall, so we won't be as much help this go-around. ;)

Hi Clinton, I prefer the Santamonica over the Laguna Seca as well. It's the wheels that do to for me ;) - though i wouldn't knock back a LS! 'Hope you can make it look as good as the bike below.
