I guess I'll just continue on this image gallery. I am starting to clean up the 'new' TT1 I acquired. It's really sort of a barn find in that it hasn't been touched in a long time. One of the things that bothered me at first, was that the fuel tank didn't seem to fit the frame properly. I finally had a chance to remove the tank and found all the issues that need correcting. Firstly it has a single outlet Pingle petcock, in place of the original dual outlet NCR piece. I think I can ream out the 3/8ths NPT bung that was installed and tap it for an 18x1mm male sleeve. This will leave a male thread exposed for the new petcock. Luckily, I had one. Now looking to the rear I can see that they removed the original mounting tab and added an 'elevated' metal and fiberglass tab. WHY! I had this problem with my Harris. The WP shock's reservoir line banjo bolt is on the top of the shock pivot and must have hit the bottom of the tank. Not allowing it to reach the mount. I have the original pulsar shock that I will be reinstalling so I will repair the tank. It also had sticky gasoline varnish around the fuel cap threads, could barely unscrew the cap. Cleaned those up and installed a nos fuel cap, smooth as silk. The bike has all original paint so I am doing my best to preserve this bike as original. Pictures should explain my rambling words. Funny how that recess for the shock often seems not deep enough Lou.

Q: Is this a special big-tube (28mm) frame; I see a welded joint where the front of the frame goes to small tubing just past the tank. I know DM does it that way. Most of the time (25mm frames) that is just bent, and the same size, at that point. Like the photo of your red & silver bike.

Yes Mike, the tank bottom is close. Also correct Mike, it is a 'big tube' frame. Many years ago I was told Verlicchi made a 'big tube' frame, and I thought those who told me were wrong, and that it was a DM frame. As time went on I was also told by some well known Ducatisti that in fact Verlicchi made them. What made me start to believe it was a bike Bob Brown built in Australia. It was a yellow bike with a black frame. I will try and find the link to the story, as it is a really nice TT racer. They mention in the article that he got the frame from Verlicchi. Low and behold, a big tube frame. The gentleman who purchased my TT1 told me that NCR told him they were building the bike with a big tube frame. I have been told some people thought it was better others no. In any event, it certainly makes it unique. Lou
