Hi Beltboy, I sold the bike for $85,000 which was all the money at the time. I received less as I had to pay a brokers fee. I regret selling it but had a lot of bills to pay and you can't keep them all unfortunately. I am a working stiff like a lot of us on the Forum and this is an expensive hobby. The estimates are $160-$185,000.00. That is a lot of money and sadly this is the direction these bikes are going in. Sadly because very few will be able to afford a real TT. I know I couldn't. I was fortunate enough to buy my bikes when no one thought they were worth much. If I ever get into a position where I have to sell one of my TT's I will not be able to replace it. I would build myself a super replica! Lou

Hi Lou, hope you are having a relaxing festive season. My question was facetious and made in jest and certainly did not merit a your good response. I understand what you are saying, as I am sure nearly all on the forum are in similar boats, just as you say. As someone who bought bevel Ducatis before anyone valued them, I fully understand the strange position of not being able to afford the bikes I actually have. And, if I did sell them, like you, I would not be able to replace them. Same as my house, actually, but not my car; that is a piece of sh!t. I believe though, that the quoted estimates are unrealistic and will be surprised if they are reached. Prices never really double overnight although strange things happen; (think Saltarelli Collection). Having said that, the estimates for the three Montjuichs seem a little low. Cheers to you for the new year.

I think with some of those estimates someone should Tell 'im 'e's dreamin'

I notice with one of the Montjuichs the chassis number does not match the sample described in Ian Falloon's book on the subject. Does anyone know if there is a list of chassis/engine numbers that can be used to verify a genuine Montjuich?

I wasn't sure on the question of 'how much' but I am pretty much an open book with most all things in my life. Seems to keep things simple that way. I think many things in the auction are fiction, but I have learned my lesson and will just say let the buyer beware. I do know my old TT1 has history and a receipt from NCR so she's pretty legit. The Montjuich prices also looked low to me as did the MV Squalo which at that price would be a deal. The auction descriptions were obviously copied from Ducati books with little history on the particular bikes being auctioned off. I actually love those two TT2's for sale and wish someone knew the history of these machines and that the pictures showed more detail. I have been invited to go to the auction and help evaluate the bikes but have declined. Big money was not the reason I became a TT enthusiast, I knew they were special machines and am glad we can all enjoy them on the Forum for free! Happy Holidays Guys and Gals. Lou

Did anybody record the sales prices for the auction yesterday?

I think the MV Squalo which is a really neat 175cc sohc single production racer went for $17,000.00 which I think is a good deal. A friend of mine sold his for around $25,000.00 4 years ago. Lou

Some interesting prices there!

Though I am curious why the Laguna Seca went for nearly $6,000 more than one of the Montjuichs?

Cheers,
Mike
