Fresh from a very nicely done spark plug hole repair by Mr. Cranky, my Harris is back to 100% track ready, and will be starting semi-retirement at Robbie's. After 30 some years of racing, a lot very serious and some more for fun, there may be a half dozen parts that were on it when it left Sports Motorcycles in the earlier '80's. The frame, front sub-frame, both foot control toe pieces, the rear brake torque rod, and one or two bodywork alloy trim washers.

It looks good for an old war horse Bill. And 30 years is a long run. But I guess semi-retirement means it will get out once or twice a year? MikeV

Bill,

That dear old Harris may be a metaphor for our own personas, how much remains of our own selves 30 years past is anybodys guess. Like that bike! These never were intended as mere slices of time, continual upgrades keep them incrementally improving which partly compensates for our own incremental decline. Well, mostly in our imaginations but that's perfectly OK, too.

If we have a thread here maybe I could be excused for posting pics later of my own TT from 1987 which I still track ride albeit with lots of changes to the moving parts. Robbie knows this bike, too, so there is a kind of connection. Cheers my friend. All the best!

Hi Fran,
You probably remember when Robbbie blew up the old 750 race engine in this bike at Mosport? Sadly, I missed that one. Please bring on your photos! I suspect Bruce is rather familiar with your bike too? Maybe we should change this thread title to "Semi-Retired Old War Horses". Robbie is most likely going to race HPD69 this month in LRRS and maybe in USCRA who is holding an event at the new Canaan track. I'll bring my camera.
