I moved my fairing escapades to the 'General Interest' section. Again to everyone who knows this stuff I apologize, to the guys struggling, I hope this helps. I many times have seen the front lower section of TT fairings cut down or completely cut off. The big difference between mounting an 18 inch wheel where a 16 incher was can be a problem. The other is the actual subframe for the fairing. Cranky and I were discussing it and I thought I would share some info. Usually, not always (this is just from observing many pictures and bikes) the TT2's used the Citroen type oil cooler the TT1's an IPRA filter like a Paso. The mounts on the subframe are obviously different. The other difference Cranky and I have found is the distance from the headstock bosses (center line of the mounting bolts) to the front mount (the round part with the threaded hole in front of the fairing) is about 7/8 of an inch shorter on a TT2 style subframe. This will bring the bottom for the lower fairing so close on a bike with an 18 inch wheel it will probably touch. Pictures enclosed. The subframe of the IPRA cooler in the pictures still needs to have the oil cooler mount curved and the ends bent to fit the cooler to the holes, and the TT2 cooler itself is yet to be modified. I do not know of anyone making the TT2 type subframe so I am making a few for the two bikes I am working on. They both need them. Lou

Very cool information Lou. I have noticed the lack of early TT2 style subframes in the aftermarket; I guess because the early coolers are harder to find. The side-by-side photos and noting the length difference are a great help too. It will be interesting to see if you embrace anodized aluminum AN fittings and SS lines for the TT2, or more-simple [hose] clamps and black hoses like so many had. MikeV

Well Mike, I wouldn't disappoint you. The bikes have the original cloth and clamp oil lines and thats what I would use for a correct bike. I used the AN fittings on replicas because they are replicas, easy parts to get and make. The originals SS lines are crimped fittings and use metric ends and hose on TT1's. Lou
