Since we seem to be on the topic of clutch parts, this may help someone: Three types of clutch release plates. One on the left is for the later hydraulic wet clutch, the one on the right for the early hydraulic clutch, and the center one for manual wet clutches. There is a fourth, for the small 500 wet clutch, with only three bolts. And a fifth, without any ball bearings, for the hydraulic dry clutch (like F1b), with six bolts and a long pin inside. Some come with the long pin inside, and some do not. I think they work better with it. MikeV

Good information Mike. I've got a few of those floating around the shelves and never knew which clutch they fit. It looks like they are in no way interchangeable.

Since the theme is clutches here, this is an interesting find. I took the cover off a later Alazzurra engine with one version of the hydraulic release, and here is what I found: Look at those cuts and scrapes inside the cover! Everything in this engine looks original, so... Was it like that from the factory? Must have been noisy for awhile.

I had to use a Dremel tool to relieve the cover on the Factory replica race bike for the big modern 750 clutch and primary. It seemed obvious when I tried to assemble it that something was amiss.

Then there is this set from the 1990s. They figured it out.

Hi Mike...
The Alazzurra cover I modified has the same marks but not as severe. Only on the bolt column closest to the hydraulic ports. Must be lateral movement of the plates due to wear and precious little clearance. Imagine what went through owners minds when they found all those chips during an oil change. The later cover would be a natural for NCR style oil lines. Do you know if the brass bushing for the end of the crank is the same as the early stuff?
Regards...

I recently removed the cover from my 650 alazzurra engine and it had no marks

Doesn't a 650 Alazzurra have the dry clutch ?
I know the 350 has a wet clutch.

Never saw a 650 with wet and 350 with dry.
As far as I know all 350 engines, F3 Indiana Elefant and Alazzurra, were delivered with wet clutch and 650 SL Indiana and Alazzurra were with dry clutch.
And I guess QC was under Cagiva a bit higher than previous, so "accidentally" putting a dryclutch pallet instead of wetclutch seems a bit too far.
Maybe they did special orders for different country ?

Yeah.....I think the 650 did have both wet and dry. The early 650's had a wet clutch and F05 front brakes, the later 650's GT/SS had dry clutch and F08 brakes in the front.

The core question is: did you ever found an Alazzura or a Pantah same to an other one?

For sure early Alazzura 650 had wet clutch and p05, later Alazzurra ( the gt model) get dry clutch, personally i always see these equipped with same p05 front brake.

Ciao
