The first Pantahs used the gearbox of the paralleltwin, which had the clutch-shaft drilled for the actuating-rod.
I've got no parts here, but I guess Ducati didn't drill the shaft for the Pantah
Plugging it doesn't make sense, since the shaft runs in oil on both sides (except with a dry clutch of course).
Strange things indeed

Very interesting.......
Wolf - how many miles/hours on that bike?? You need to take that thing apart now not later and let us know :-)

Flattop has an eagle eye....

Ducadini - I still havent seen a picture of you in that Hawaiian shirt

I think Cagiva stuck those little rollers in there to improve on Taglioni's design

I think the rollers in the shaft are to support the pin thing in the center of the pressure plate. On later stuff they support the clutch rod that goes through the shaft from the slave cylinder. I would be suspect of the bearings #31 in the middle pic. that support the primary gear that chunk of aluminum is a bit baffling though, the straight edge on it doesn't seem to jive with anything around a bearing bore. I guess we'll have to wait on the mystery!

Hi 186...
So they are more like a sleeve or bushing rather than a "roller" as described in the manual. That makes way more sense.

No, they are tiny roller bearings, OD around 10mm and ID 8mm or so.

Wolf - Thanx for posting the pics on the motor/rollers and the bevel.

I was feeling bad for ya with the Pantah motor troubles, but I guess if ya cant ride the Pantah, the Bevel will do in a bind. You probably wont suffer too much  But seriously, nice Bevel.....and you look good on it too!!

Clay
ps I wonder if there is anybody on this list that only has one bike?

....the motor swap is done...I've drained the old motor - found no more parts in the oil. The thorough investigation has to wait until winter time...now I'm curious how the 750cc motor will perform...

Cheers

Wolf

..the new motor is doing good - the increase of capacity, compression and the hotter cams are noticable, I also removed the pumps which are not missed...
