I had a loan of a set when I was racing sidecar and using a Yamaha TZ engine. Excellent cabs but a pain in the backside to set up. May be easier to set up on a four stroke as it is not as crutial for humidity and temprature as a two stroke. We gave up eventually and went back to Kehin carbs. Sam |

A set of 36mm are now on the #8 replica of the Pantah F2 1981 IOM winner, because that is what was used. See the tribute build in Pantah Hotrods section. They are simple, but that does not seem better to me. The only circuit is one for chokes, and for the needles (they are the main jets, sorta) used. The needles control all else along the RPMs, so unless you get lucky on first assembly you may need an assortment of needles; they are not cheap. The length can be adjusted, but that effects only idle richness; a screw sets that RPM. Fitting and adjusting the needles requires a lot of disassembly, more than a Dellorto. I don’t care for the tiny screws used to hold body parts together. And the choke flippers are cheesy. The bowls seem prone to leaking; after a while all plastic that gets heated warps some. If you like fiddling with things then they are for you. They do have soft springs. The bike starts fine, but it is really rough running till it warms up good. Then it will idle. I have a set of Dellorto 38mm flatslides, and I prefer them. Maybe I am just more familiar with all those parts. And it is certainly easier to target and adjust the main jets. MikeV |
