Hi Guys, this is for Mike V. Take an inner tube, cut it on the inside, then unfold. You now have a piece of concave molded rubber. Use your fiberglass ring as a template, letting the rubber reach it's natural shape. Cut shape out with a scissor. Keep re-checking the fit. Once you have a nice fit with a good 'bulge' for the shock, mark your holes using the ring. I use a leather punch to make the holes in the rubber. I use a gasket punch for the center hole that is needed for the shock. Once everything looks good I used 1/8 inch aluminum rivets and backing washers as the holes are a little larger than the rivet. You, of course, can use larger rivets or alloy nuts and bolts. Whatever strikes your fancy. I use the rivets cause I've seen pictures of NCR bikes done that way, but as we all know, they would have used what was lying around. Hope this explanation helps, and the pictures are my typical poor quality. How's that Mike? Lou

A CV axle boot also makes a good cover. You do need to find a sympathetic parts person at NAPA or where ever to sort through their stock though, so show up with the OD of the big end and ID of the end over the shock.

Mr.Dietz is correct. For an F1 I was told that a NAPA part #686-2207 would work. It is a CV axle boot. Just double check it for size and fit. Lou

I think the recycled inner tube wins the day. Nice tutorial, always learning something new on this site.
Thanks Lou....
