slowly, a new ignition system for the TT-Motor comes to life - the idea is to use only one pick up (which is oil resitent, from a Honda Africa Twin) in combination with a segmented disk. The black box is a Ignitech TCIP4 - first tests (outside the Motor) are showing promising results. The single pick up handles the ignition timing accurately for both cylinders. A real test of the ignition (in a motor) is scheduled for the next weekend...

...since only one pick up is used, the black box needs information, where the top dead center of the (second) pistons is. The disk has 24 teeth, two are not existing (24-2). The ignition starts to count after the gap (the two missing teeth) and ignites after a designated tooth and than again after 90°, for example it ignites after the fifth and than again after the eleventh tooth. This is used for the idle revolution situation, for the maximum advance the third and the ninth tooth is used...

Cheers

Wolf

...it works!

a test inside the garage was successful, although some questions remain: with a Ignitech TCIP4 V80 it works as expected, the more modern version V88 not as well - some more work may needs to be done

a road test will follow...this will take some time, since the motorcycle needs some work until it can hit the road.

...will keep you updated
