Post subject:  Wet clutch cover modified for oil cooler lines

Here is comparison of a stock wet clutch cover against one modified for oil lines like the 1983-or-so TT2, and the part listed by NCR as a modification they did. This part may be one of those. Note the big plug inside the crank end oil galley; it appears the bronze bush was removed/reinstalled to do this, and the plug is certainly blocking oil from the interior case passage for the oil pump. It also beefs up that area for a banjo bolt, which is rather thin compared to the area of the outlet tap.

Notice that the small hole at the outlet tap/internal passage to the crank is not blocked. Maybe a bigger banjo bolt at this outlet would block that internal line, and the big plug then made not necessary. But this cover has only a 10mm bolt/tap in it. MikeV

Hi Mike...
Yes... that galley would get blocked by the banjo bolt, hence the stand off on my mod. I need that port open, so I machined a slot in the bung/standoff, that lines up with it. I really like the idea of adding material "plug" to the inside of the case. Keeps things tidy on the outside.
Best Regards...

Now that is a nice way to do that flattop. I have also seen spacers welded onto the cover, and that provides working space and thicker material to tap. MikeV

Hi Mike and Carlo...
Mike, I would consider welding the spacers to the cover, but my aluminium tig looks more like mud thrown against a wall than a neatly stacked row of dimes.
Carlo, can you tell if that cover is a modified O.E.M. or is it a special casting?

Moretti, the frame builder from Livorno, was completely process the engine block pantah to NCR workshops, instead he took care of the chassis.

It is an original crankcase modified by NCR. simply.

Hi Carlo...
I thought that maybe NCR had a modified casting that might deal with the port blocking and case thickness issues.
