Hi all, was in the shed today playing around with the pantah head for the TT1. I've noticed what looks like a crack between the spark plug hole and valve seat on the rear head. Has any one come across this before as I'm thinking as it gets hot the seat may drop out, KABOOM would follow. Any ideas??? Weld? Boucher.

If it's cracked then there is no telling how deep it goes. The only real option is to remove the valve seats, grind down into the crack and weld it all up again. Then machine oversize seat pockets and fit new seats. Shame it's not the front head.

I also have a V head with a crack in the same place. Also has a helicoil in the plug hole. So this one is a candidate for the "full monty" big-valve rework.

I have noticed that the plug holes are in different places over the various years; some closer to the smaller exhaust seat, and some closer to the intake seat. You would not think that. When I sent a set to Carlo for larger valves I picked one with the most space between the intake seat.
