Post subject:  Verlicchi F1 swingarm grade of aluminum

Hello gang. I have found someone local to re-anodize a Verlicchi aluminum swingarm. They asked me what hardness/grade it is --- 60???? Does anyone know that with certainly. Not critical, just helpful.

Thanks, MikeV

I know the early Verlicchi un-braced one I tried to have weld repaired by a rather good welder, after some loosened up sprocket screws cut arcs out of the inside vertical surface, didn't weld good. Does that (probably not) help?

I searched some period Verlicchi documents for that info but found nothing usefull.
Welding a non treated swingarm is not easy, it has to be treated to remove the anodizing.
As You stated, the grade or alloy isn't very critical when it comes to anodizing.
But even a local heat-treatment (like a welded repair of even heating to bend) could show a different colour or shine when anodized without a complete heattreatment.
The higher content of Si could make it darker.
Regardless the heattreatment by Verlicchi, by now those swingarms are "naturally aged" and should have a even finish after anodizing.

Let's hope Verlicchi used (roughly) the same material for all the parts.
