I took a friend to the Gedinne Classic TT today, to let him see some older racebikes.
In the PostClassic category, there was the usual bunch of Pantahs and TT reps.
I didn't pay any attention to the bikes, just telling Dirk about specs and specials.
Later we met a old BOTT races who shared a tent with one of the TT reps.
Can anyone identify this frame ?
He told me Ducati made a bunch of frames to run in the BOTT with Lucchinelli but tests weren't very good so all frames were to be destroyed. Someone got hold of them before they were scrapped and apparently two bikes were build a few years later.
While at Imola, Lucchinelli recognised the frame and asked where he got it.
Few weeks later, Stephane Mertens saw it and aknowledged the story of the frames AND the special position of the footpegs that Marco always preferred, making it difficult to share a bike with Stephane (who is taller with longer legs).
Been searching through my files and pics but haven't found any frame that could be close.
