thank you for the tip to the Canadians - very hot! What would think, would this make sense? Cylinderheads with valves 35/41, camshafts from a 500 Pantah, carbs 36 Dell'Orto, cylinders 750 SS or 750 Paso - the motorcycle is aimed to be used primarly on the road and sometimes on the track...any additional suggestions? kind regards Wolf |

i'd be thinking about using a later bottom end. i've never seen reliable specs for pantah cams, but the later 900 cams are probably better for more power. my later 750 has 75 pretty easy hp. high comps, not too much port work, 900 carb model cams. |

...very slowly the new motor is developing (now i'm thinking about Pistal pistons and 40 Dell'Orto carburetors)...i've found some 800 cams and finally they are machined to fit the pantah heads...the photo depicts on left an unmachined camshaft, the two others are shortened and the new bearing positions are machined on a lathe - the material is well behaving - better than expected

Very clever what you have done with the 800 cams Wolf. They do have more lift than the stock 600-750 cams according to Brad's charts. I put 900SS cams in some 800 heads using the bushings for the missing tach drives on the V cams and thicker washers at the cam end-caps. In essence, putting back what you machined off the 800 cams. Worked perfectly. MikeV |

I did not have time to build a good 900 engine in 2013 when I went to the NH gathering (TT900SS project). But I had a very new 800 engine, so I made a few changes to it and used that. It was surprisingly fast. Attachment: Attachment: But, a person could get two 800 H cams (probably cheap) and make the mods that Wolf made to use in a Pantah engine. The 800 cams have about the same duration, but about 2mm more lift Intake and Exhaust. Again, the 900ss cams have 20 degrees more duration, and about 3mm more lift on the intakes. MikeV |
