Dear colleagues,

I've found this exhaust system - looks pretty "original" to me....in the exhaust orifice a large thread (approx. M 42 x 2.5) is found. Are there any information on dB-eaters available which may fit this exhaust - or drawings or anything?

many thanks and kind regards

Wolf

Hi Wolf,
That surely looks like a Giannelli system to me? The only point I'm uncertain about, is the end cone or orifice you mentioned? I thought Giannelli mufflers had bolted flanged end cones... Maybe the later versions are threaded? When you speak of db eater, I'm assuming you mean the internal baffle? I will take a photo of my modified Giannelli that I fitted to my replica.
Hope this helps?
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,

here is the promised picture of the exhaust...

I've made a sound measurement this morning (1m distance to the exhaust orifice at an angle of 45°, 4500 rpm) - even too loud for track day use 104dB(A) :-(

cheers

Wolf

Wolf, I've never seen that type of exhaust before! I will still take & post a photo for you of my baffle, but it will not work with your muffler system. You need to have an engineering company make up a db killer that has internal baffle welded to the threaded nut that screws in to your end cone.
Does anybody else know this muffler system here?
Please help the Wolf!
Cheers,
Steve

I've never seen that kind of mod either, but you could get a fabricator to make a threaded sleeve and weld a length of perforated core that is long enough to run up hard enough against the ID of the megaphone taper when the sleeve is screwed in. Have him tap a couple of M6 holes in the outer face of the sleeve so you can run a couple of screws in to use for tightening the sleeve and lockwire. With a bit of fiberglass packing, it'll kill a lot of sound. If you're running NCR 7s or Monty cams, it'll also kill a lot of torque too (unfortunately).

Wintertime is here ( and hitting new all-time-highs of 13° CELSIUS, about 15 too high) and been looking for old pics in even older cases in the basement.
So I found some brochures of the 1986 IFMA (in Koln) : Verlicchi and Simonini.
They both made the 2into1 race exhaust for the Pantah, but I found only Simonini did them with streetsilencing AND supersilencing (whatever that could be ), nothing more then a picture at Verlicchi's papers.
IIRC Sito made them also, but I didn't find anything (yet).

What type was fitted to the original TTs ?

joseph
