Hi Is there a reason everyone seems to mount the oil cooler with the feed and return going in at the top and not from the bottom ?

Hi Auburn,
I asked the same question to myself during my TT2 project drybuild.
The answer showed itself when I positioned the oil cooler at the front, attached to a replica TT2 front instrument/oil cooler bracket.
The attachment of the oil cooler could not be positioned upside down with the inlet/outlets facing down. There simply isn't the room between the replica TT2 fairing and the oil cooler itself. Otherwise, this would make changing engine oil easier by also draining the remaining oil in the oil cooler. I will provide a picture to explain things.

In the case of Graeme's magnificent machine, he has his oil cooler positioned lower (above the horizontal head) so he could run the lines underneath. Only, he has his oil cooler attached conventionally attached Ducati style.

So, to answer your question....yes, you could run the oil cooler lines however you want. It simply depends where you position it and to what degree of replica your TT2 is/will be....

Hope this helps?

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Thanks for the info there, I am mounting mine in the lower position I have made a chrome wire basket to hold the oil cooler as it from a paso and ther is no mounting bracket on it, Just wondered about the lines incase there was something obvious I had missed.
The fairing that came with the frame and bits I bought is a road fairing with square headlight aperture,
So I will fill it and I hve two Carello 5" lamps as per the endurance racer on the front .
Did the endurance racer have a rear light ??

Hi Auburn, I've seen two and three small square Carillo lights used. The only problem is the small Carellos are used on a 512 Ferrarri as door marker lights so sometimes the price is insane. I think you can find replicas for a lot less. For all I know they used these on Fiats as well. If you need a part number let me know I have it in my shop and can find it for you. Thanks to Rudi's website for the pictures. Lou
